I find it really hard to NOT have a car in Reykjavík. I have to make 12 km. journey from home to school on a daily basis (including the weekends for that silly MBA course! ><), which only takes me about 11 minutes by driving, but 33 minutes by BUS!
There are very limited number of bus routes available, and massive areas to cover, and very little population to serve (around 150,000 people live in Reykjavík). So each bus line has to cover as wide an area as possible, because there’s no point in adding more bus routes when only a fraction of the population are using them (almost everybody has cars in Iceland).
Since i don’t have a car, i’m stuck with a bus route that comes every 30 minutes, goes around my neighborhood for about 15 minutes, then makes its way to town center for another 15 minutes ><
